Meeting Minutes
April 20, 2022

I. Call to Order/Roll Call
President Spakowicz called the meeting of the Village of Pewaukee Police Commission to order at 5:32 p.m. on April 20, 2022 in the Village Hall Board Room, Secretary McNeill conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: President David Spakowicz, Commissioners William Gehrking and Peter Rohde and Secretary Mary McNeill. Commissioner Jill Bloedow was excused.

Also present were Chief Timothy Heier, Deputy  Chief Garry and Police Officer Crouse.

II. Citizen Comments
There were no citizen comments or correspondence from the public presented to the commission. There were no citizens present at the meeting.

III. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meetings
The minutes of the March 21, 2022 meeting were presented for review. 
Commissioner Rohde made a motion to accept the minutes. Cornrnissioner Gehrking
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

IV. Pursuant to the Village Municipal Code 42.102 the Commission will elect a Secretary and President to be implemented starting on May 1, 2022
Commissioner Gehrking nominated Dave Spakowicz for the position of Commission President. Commissioner Rohde seconded the nomination. Dave Spakowicz abstained from voting. The nomination carried unanimously. 

Commissioner Rohde nominated Mary McNeill for the position of Commission Secretary. President Spakowicz seconded the nomination. Mary McNeill abstained from voting. The nomination was carried unanimously.

V. Closed Session
Commissioner Gehrking made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Rohde, to move the Village of Pewaukee Commission into closed session pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 19.85 (l) (c) to consider employment, promotion, compensation, or employment evaluation responsibility, specifically to evaluate applicants for the position of Police officer. Secretary McNeill then conducted a roll call vote.
The Commissioners unanimously voted to move into closed session.
The Commission then moved into closed session at 5:36 p.m. 

VI. Reconvene into Open Session
Commissioner Gehrking made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Rohde, to reconvene into open session. Secretary McNeill then conducted a  roll call vote. The motion passed unanimously. The Commission then reconvened into open session at 9:09 p.m.

VII. Possible Action on Patrol Officer Candidates
President Spakowicz made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Rohde, to forward the names of Adam Rhode and Daniel Pfiel to Chief Heier for the final phase in our selection process. Based on the outcome of the process, Chief Heier will determine the final selection. The remaining candidate's name will be placed on a 6-month eligibility list. All other candidates are not being considered. The motion passes unanimously.

VIII. Adjournment
Commissioner Rohde made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by Commissioner Gehrking. The motion was passed unanimously.  President Spakowicz adjourned the meeting at 9:13 p.m.
