Meeting Minutes
May 16, 2023

1) Call to Order/Roll Call:
President Spakowicz called the meeting of the Village of Pewaukee Police Commission to order at 5:01 p.m. on May 16, 2023. Commissioner Rohde conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Commissioners William Gehrking, Pete Rohde, Jeff Bublitz and President Dave Spakowicz. Commissioner Jodie Borchman was excused from the meeting. Chief Timothy Heier was also present.

2) Welcoming of New Commissioners:
(a) Jeffery Bublitz was welcomed from President Spakowicz and the other Commissioners. Bublitz stated that he is also known as Santa during the season. Retired from retail and the food serve. 30+ years. Helps at Port-a-dock on Sussex St. in the Village.
(b) Jodie Borchman was not present. President Spakowicz talked about his neighbor of 15years. Commissioner Borchman is active with the Pewaukee Public Schools.

3) Election of Commissioners:
(a) Commission President- Commissioner Gehrking nominated and motioned that President Spakowicz, to continue to be the President, seconded by Commissioner Rohde. The Motion passed with President Spakowicz abstaining.
(b) Commission Secretary- President Spakowicz nominated Commissioner Rohde to take the Secretary position. Commissioner Gehrking second. The Motion passed with Commissioner Rohde abstaining.

4) Citizen Comments
There were no citizen comments. Chief Heier had no Citizen concerns to report.

5) Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting
The minutes of the April 8, 2023, meeting was presented for review. The approval of the minutes was Tabled because some clerical errors that need to be corrected and clarification on the Date.

6) Closed Session
Commissioner Gehrking made a motion that the Police Commission move into closed session pursuant to Wisconsin Statues Section 19.85(1) (c) to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body had jurisdiction or exercises responsibility - specifically regarding Police Officer candidates. The motion was seconded by Secretary Rohde. A roll call vote was taken by Secretary Rohde. The motion passed unanimously. The commission moved into closed session at 5:30 p.m.

7) Reconvene into Open Session
Commissioner Gehrking made a motion to reconvene into open session. Commissioner Bublitz seconded the motion. Secretary Rohde took a roll call vote and the motion passed unanimously. The Commission reconvened into open session at 7:44 p.m.

8) Possible Action on Police Officer Candidates
Commissioner Gehrking made a motion to forward the names of Mackenna Marinello, Rebecca Polzin and Elizabeth Strozinsky to Chief Heier to continue forward in the hiring process. Secretary Rohde seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

9) Adjournment
Commissioner Bublitz made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by Commissioner Gehring. The motion was passed unanimously. President Spakowicz adjourned the meeting at 7:48 p.m.
