Operation Identification

Operation Identification is a program centered upon the belief that to prevent crime we must attempt to address the elements of the crime triangle. We attempt to make property less desirable to the criminal element by marking our valuables in such a way that they can be identified, increasing the likelihood that the thief will be caught with stolen goods. By doing this we hope that the criminal will choose to go elsewear to commit his crimes and if he does take your belongings that if caught we can identify your property, successfully prosecute the thief, and return your property to you.

How can you participate in this program? It's easy! The Village of Pewaukee Police Department has hundreds of engravers that we will loan out. All you need to do is contact the police department and let us know you want to borrow an engraver, the best time is probably from 3pm-11pm when you can see our Crime Prevention Specialist Lt. Mark Flessert. He will let you sign out an engraver, then take it home and engrave your valuables like stereo components, TV sets, guns, ect.....

Its best to engrave a number that can be easily traced to you like your drivers license. Just engrave this number on the back of the item you want to protect. We will also give you a record list that you can fill out and keep for your own use. When your done simply return the engraver to the police department.

It's that easy!  This program has also been proven to return property and reduce the chance of items being taken in the first place. We will also give you stickers to display, if you choose to, on your windows or doors to let any potential burglar know your valuables are marked.

Want any more information or got any questions? Contact Lt. Flessert at the Pewaukee Police Department at 691-5678 from 3pm -11pm  or drop us an Email at pewaukeepolice@villageofpewaukee.com.
