Frequently Asked Questions 2012
What is the difference between the Village of Pewaukee and the City of Pewaukee?
Answer: They are two different municipalities. The shared name can make it confusing sometimes. If your a visitor you can tell by addresses. If the address begins with a number like W240 N3065 Pewaukee Road, then you are in the city. If the address is a simple 3 or 4 digit address like 235 Hickory or 1275 Capitol Dr. you are in the village. Both dispatch numbers are the same, 262-446-5070.
Does the village have overnight parking restrictions?
Answer: Yes, we have year long parking restrictions. Vehicles or trailers may not be parked on village streets at night, or actually from 2:00AM to 6:00AM. Residents who need to park their cars on the street can park by obtaining a parking permit in advance at the village police department for $11.00 a month. We still do require all cars to alternate sides, so since the restrictions are from 2:00AM to 6:00AM you want to make sure your car is on that mornings side of the street. So if it is the 24th of the month, then cars must be on the side of the street with an even address. So if your parking at 11:00pm and don't want to get up at 2:00AM to move your car, make sure you park it on the side for the 2:00AM to 6:00AM time frame.
But what if I have an out of town visitor?
Answer: We understand sometimes you have visitors who may need to park on the street. They can call 262-691-5677 and leave information including their license plate, description of the car, and location. If this is abused by someone who frequently calls in and doesn't get a permit your permission may be denied and a ticket issued.
What are some of the restrictions on the Lakefront?
Answer: There are several restrictions, the Lakefront is part of the Pewaukee Park System, thus all park rules apply. NO alcoholic beverages are permitted without a permit issued by the village.
Other rules: No Dogs in the park, yes that includes the lake
No grills on the lakefront
Swim in designated areas
Do not fish in the swimming area
Parks are closed from 10:00PM to 6:00AM
I need to get myself fingerprinted for a license or permit I am applying for. Does the Village of Pewaukee do this?
Answer: We are happy to provide this service to anyone on an "as available" basis. We would request you call for an appointment at 262-691-5671 ext. 227 and we will try to make an officer available. Please understand, with an appointment or not, our primary mission of public safety and law enforcement may preclude us from being available. There is a $20.00 fee required, with a slight service charge if using a credit card.
I have a ticket, old ticket, or a warrant issued for me. Can I come to the police department and pay it? What form of payment do you accept?
Yes, please pay your tickets on time, or make arrangement through the courts, or you may face license suspension, tax intercept, or even an arrest warrant. For your convenience Monday - Friday from 7AM to 8PM you can pay in person with a credit card, check, money order or cash. Times outside of these normal business hours officers will only accept cash payment ( or possibly checks at the supervisors discretion).
Can I make a credit card payment over the phone or internet? Some places allow that.
I am sorry, we do not have the capability to do payments over the phone or internet.
